Services and the store
Build services with packages, add-ons, pricing models and a public page.
Everything you sell lives in the store. Each service has its own public page at /services/your-service, and that page is also the checkout: a buyer picks a package, ticks any extras and pays in one step. There is no cart.
This guide covers building a service from scratch, choosing how it is priced and delivered, writing its page, and reading how the store performs.
Where it lives#
| What | Menu path | Route |
|---|---|---|
| The store list | Store → Services | /catalog |
| A new service | Store → Services → Add service | /catalog/new |
| One service's editor | Click a service in the list | /catalog/your-service |
| Store performance | Store → Services → Overview | /catalog/overview |
| The public page | Your portal domain | /services/your-service |
The store list has four tabs: Services, Categories, Add-ons and Volume discounts. The strip above them counts your services, drafts, monthly services and add-ons, plus your Average margin if you have the Costs and margin permission.
Create a service#
- Go to Store → Services and click Add service.
- Type the service's name in the title on the cover. As soon as it has a name, it is saved as a draft that only your team can see.
- Add a Tagline under the name: one sentence about what the buyer gets.
- Work through the steps in the left rail: Details, Pricing, Add-ons, Requirements, and, if you have access, Checklist. A digital product also gets a Download step.
- Pick a status in the bar at the top (Draft, Private or Public) and click the save button. It reads Save & publish when you are about to put the service live.
The editor saves itself after each pause in typing. Going live is the one thing it never does on its own: the status only changes when you click save.
You can jump between steps freely. A dot on a step's number means something there needs fixing before the page can save. If a save fails, the message names the step and offers a Go to button.
The page editor#
Cover, thumbnail and icon#
The top of the editor is the top of the public page.
- Cover: choose from Scenes, Gallery, Custom (a backdrop with your own colours, style and angle) or Upload your own image.
- Thumbnail and icon: shown on store cards and in lists. Pick a line icon or upload an image.
- Name and Tagline: typed straight onto the cover.
Details#
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Category | Groups the service under a heading in the store. Pick an existing one or type a new one. |
| Description | Optional. Shown on the service page. Supports bold, links, headings and lists. |
| Samples | Optional links to past work. They show as buttons beside the delivery time and open in a new tab. |
| What every order includes | Lines shown under the price whichever package is picked. Each line can have an icon. Package-specific items go on the package instead. |
Settings in the left column#
These apply to the service as a whole and save with everything else.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Link | The page address. Use the pencil to edit it, or copy it. See URL changes. |
| Old links | Earlier addresses that still open this page. |
| How it's delivered | Our team or Digital. See Fulfilment. |
| Default owner | Who new orders for this service are assigned to. Each order can still be reassigned. Needs the Assign work permission. |
| Show on the services page | Lists the service in the portal's store. Turn it off to sell only by direct link. |
| Several packages at once | Lets buyers pick more than one package. Only with packages pricing. |
| Buyers pick a quantity | Adds a quantity control. Not available for quoted, free or digital services. |
Preview#
- Preview opens the whole page beside the form and updates as you type.
- View page opens the saved page in a new tab. A draft or private service opens as a team preview.
- On wide screens, the panel icon shows just the current step's part of the page in a right-hand column.
Pricing#
Open the Pricing step and expand How it's sold. It has up to four rows.
Offer: single price or packages#
- Single price: one price and one delivery time.
- Packages: several options side by side (for example Basic, Standard, Premium), each with its own price, delivery time and list of what's included. Switching to packages starts you with three.
Pricing models#
Choose one under Price worked out.
| Model | Best for | What the buyer sees |
|---|---|---|
| Tiered by quantity | Countable work: articles, seats, units | A tier and a quantity. Each tier has its own price. |
| Fixed price | Audits, setups, projects | One price for the whole thing. Add packages for good/better/best. |
| Hourly rate | Consulting, ad-hoc work | Priced per hour. Each row is a rate (a person, a seniority, a skill). |
| Quote on request | Custom scopes | No price. An Ask for a quote form instead of checkout. |
| Free | Lead magnets, free audits | No charge and no payment page. |
A Free service still creates an account, an order and your requirements form. If the buyer ticks a paid add-on, they pay for that add-on as usual.
A Quote on request service has no packages. Its page sends the buyer to a quote request, which opens a support ticket, so it needs the Helpdesk module. You reply with a price, typically as a custom offer (see Messages and files).
Billing: one-time or monthly#
Every service is sold one-time, and buyers can also choose to take it monthly at the same price until they cancel. Under Page opens on, choose whether the page starts on One-time or Monthly. A monthly purchase becomes a subscription (see Subscriptions).
Monthly is not offered on free, quoted or digital services.
Some older services may show Kept from before: this service is billed on its own schedule, with an Every and Period setting (weeks, months, quarters or years, up to every 24). That schedule keeps working. To sell the service like every other one, pick One-time or Monthly instead.
Quantity#
When Buyers pick a quantity is on, a Quantity row appears in How it's sold:
- Any number: a stepper from 1 up to 999.
- Fixed choices: a dropdown of your own numbers, typed like
1, 3, 5, 10. Up to 20 choices. Buyers see them with the package name, for example "5x Lite", and "per month" when they take it monthly.
Packages#
Under Packages you build the rows buyers choose from.
- Edit packages as: Rows (one package per line, like a spreadsheet) or Columns (side by side, the way buyers compare them).
- Buyers see the packages as: Grid or List.
- Comparison rows: add rows such as "Pages" or "Revisions" and fill in a value for each package. These show on each package card.
Each package has:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The package name. |
| Who it's for | One sentence under the name. |
| Price | The price, or "Free" on a free service. |
| Delivery | Standard turnaround in days, before any add-on changes it. |
| What's included | The checklist under the price. |
| Offered | Turn off to stop selling a package without deleting it. |
| Est. cost (staff only) | Your estimated cost, used for margins. Only people with the Costs and margin permission see it, and it is never sent to clients. |
You can duplicate or remove a package from its menu. Offered off is safer than Remove for a package that orders already use.
Package groups#
Click Split into groups to have buyers pick a group first and then a package inside it. Each group has its own name, its own comparison rows, a Pick several switch and its own Grid or List layout.
Linked packages#
To sell packages that another service already has, without keeping a copy in sync, click From another service on the packages card (or on a group).
- Pick the Service the packages come from.
- Turn on All its packages, and any it adds later, or tick only the packages you want.
- Save the page.
A price or delivery change on the source service shows here too. Your service's own packages are kept, and you can return to them with the unlink button (Use its own packages).
Volume discounts#
Go to Store → Services → Volume discounts to add a ladder of discounts by quantity.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Minimum quantity | The quantity at which the discount starts. |
| Percentage off | The discount. |
| Which service | Every service, or one service. |
Discounts are counted on the total quantity within one service, across its tiers. Buyers see the saving as Volume discount in their order summary.
Add-ons#
Add-ons are optional extras a buyer can tick, such as rush delivery or an extra revision. They live in one shared library, and each service chooses which ones it offers.
Offer add-ons on a service#
- Open the service's Add-ons step.
- Switch on each add-on you want to offer here. An add-on offered on every service can be switched off for just this one.
- Turn on Free beside an add-on to include it at no charge with this service. The buyer still sees its value.
- To make a new one, click New add-on for this service. It joins the library when you save.
Edit an add-on#
Go to Store → Services → Add-ons.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | For example "Express delivery". |
| Description | Shown under the checkbox at checkout. |
| Charged | Per item (a price per unit) or Percentage (of the line). |
| On every service | Offered everywhere, including services added later. Off, it waits in the library until a service switches it on. |
| Adds delivery time | Days added when ticked. Five days plus a 2-day add-on is seven. |
| Shortens delivery | Multiplies the turnaround down (0.5 halves it), with But never under a minimum number of days. |
| Highlight as popular | Shows a Popular badge at checkout. Use it on one or two at most. |
Orders that already bought an add-on keep their own copy of its name and price, so editing or removing it never changes past orders.
Requirements#
Requirements are the questions a buyer answers after paying, before work starts. Open the Requirements step.
- Click Add a question, or use a one-click preset: Website URL, Brand guidelines or logo or Anything we should know?
- Type the question as its heading and, optionally, a line of help.
- Pick the answer type and set Required.
- To copy questions from another service, click Import requirements, choose the service under From, and pick the questions.
| Answer type | What the buyer gives |
|---|---|
| Short answer | One line of text |
| Paragraph | A few sentences |
| Link | A web address |
| An email address | |
| Number | A figure |
| Date | A date from a calendar |
| Dropdown | One choice from a list that opens |
| Multiple choice | One choice, with every option shown |
| Yes / no | A tick to confirm |
| File upload | A link to their file |
A service can ask up to 30 questions. An order that asks nothing skips the brief and goes straight to In progress. See Orders and delivery for what happens after the buyer answers.
Checklist#
The Checklist step holds the steps your team takes on every order of this service. It appears only for people with the Task templates permission, and it has its own Save checklist button. See Todo and checklists.
Fulfilment#
Choose under How it's delivered.
| Option | Label in lists | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Our team | Handled by your team | The order is the deliverable. Your team moves it through your order statuses and submits the finished work, which the client accepts or sends back. |
| Digital | Digital product | Files you upload once, delivered automatically. As soon as the order is placed, and its requirements answered if it asks any, the client can download them. |
Set up a digital product#
- Set How it's delivered to Digital. A Download step appears.
- Under Files, upload what the buyer gets: a PDF, a zip, a video.
- Write a Note for buyers. It shows beside the download and in the email.
Every buyer downloads the files as they are now, so a replaced file reaches earlier buyers too. Mark a file Internal to stop delivering it. A digital service can't be bought monthly or by quantity.
Draft, private and public#
| Status | Who can see and buy it |
|---|---|
| Draft | Only your team can see it. |
| Private | Only signed-in clients can see it and buy it. |
| Public | Anyone with the link can see it and buy it. |
From the store list's row menu you can also Publish or Move to draft, Archive (takes it out of the store; existing orders are untouched) or Restore, and Delete. Delete is refused while an order in progress uses the service. Past orders keep their own copy of its name and price.
Publishing is refused if there is nothing to sell yet, for example a service with no price or a digital product with no files.
URL changes#
The address is made from the name while the service is a new draft. Once you edit it by hand it stays as you typed it, and Use the name puts it back.
- Addresses use lower-case letters, numbers and single hyphens.
- After a service has been live, changing its address keeps a redirect from the old one. The editor shows "/services/old-name will redirect here."
- A service that has never been live keeps no redirect.
- Under Old links, you can add addresses from an old order form or site that should open this page, and see how many visits each received over 7, 30 or 90 days.
Categories#
Categories are created by typing one on a service's Details step. On Store → Services → Categories you can:
- Give a category a label, such as "Best selling" or "New", that clients see beside it in the store.
- Rename a category.
- Remove a category. Its services stay in the store under Uncategorised.
To change the order services appear in, click Reorder on the Services tab and drag them. Categories follow the order of their services.
Service page settings#
The gear button beside Overview opens Service page settings. These switches apply to every service page at once.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Client reviews | The deck of video and written reviews under the order button. You write the reviews in Settings → Company. |
| Case studies | Up to 12 case studies (title, link, result, client, summary, and a before/after figure), shown under the reviews. You can export and import them as a file. |
| Trust facts on the cover | Delivery time, your guarantee and your figures along the cover. |
| Partner badges | Platform partner badges in the page footer. Card and payment marks show by themselves for the gateways you have on. |
This dialog needs the Company settings permission.
Store overview#
Store → Services → Overview shows how the store performs over a period you choose.
- Sales, Orders, Service page visits and Visit to order at the top.
- Top services and each service's share of sales and orders.
- Orders per week (or per day).
- From page to paid: every visit to a service page and how far it got, from Opened a service page through Clicked checkout to Paid, plus Left without ordering.
- Where visitors leave: visits that ended without an order, by service page.
- Ranking: each service's sales, share, orders, page visits, visit-to-order rate and trend.
Page visits are only counted while the Traffic tracking module is on. Turn it on in Settings → Modules.
What the client sees#
- The portal's Services page lists every service with Show on the services page on, grouped by category, in your store order.
- Each service page shows the cover, packages, extras, what every order includes, reviews, case studies and the order summary.
- After paying, the client answers your requirements in the portal.
Permissions#
| Permission | Lets someone |
|---|---|
| See the price book | Open the store and service editors. |
| Add to the price book | Add services and edit their own drafts that have never been live. |
| Reprice | Edit any service, publish it, and manage add-ons and categories. |
| Remove from the price book | Delete services. |
| Reports | Open the store overview. |
| Costs and margin | See estimated costs and margins. |
See Team and permissions for building roles.
Tips#
- Start with a single price. Switch to packages once you know which options people ask for.
- Use Offered off rather than deleting a package, so old orders still read correctly.
- Keep requirements short. Every extra question delays the start of work.
- Set a Default owner on each service so new orders never sit unassigned.
- Use Private for services you only want existing clients to buy.
